about

I don't know if you've heard, but there's a global pandemic happening right now! So after taking a sort of creative hiatus for three or four months to dedicate to anger, frustration, futility, and general despair, I've now started working on a new record. I'm putting up some very raw, self-recorded early demos of some of the new songs to let ya'll know what I'm up to, and to hopefully maybe raise a little much needed dough as I deal with lost hours and employment due to the situation. I played and recorded all the instruments myself, and I think it has a fun raw feel to it that is completed by my lazy edits and the sounds of my compressors amplifying the noise of my air conditioner. I hope you enjoy! I'll be releasing these sporadically, and once a new one is out I'll be taking the other one down, so get em while they're hot! Enjoy the new songs as I try to process old relationships and make sense of entering into my thirties and struggle to negotiate the swirling vortex of bullshit that is our current moment.

lyrics

See, if I was still honest
I'd have ten names to call this
and none of them are words I think you like
you rendered all my thoughts suspect
Now I sift through them to detect
which are real
and which catastrophize

Oh my god!
I'm nowhere once again
and I ain't living for a thing
Everything is ending around me
and I ain't living for a thing

I wasn't up reading the bible
i was cutting up the pages
rearranging them around to fit my life
and whenever I look at the news
good god! I pick and choose
if a man can't just be free than he should die

Oh my god!
I'm nowhere once again
and I ain't living for a thing
Everything is ending around me
and I ain't living for a thing

Tell me that I'm good
that I mean something to someone
I want you to think I'm good
I need to mean something
Tell me that I'm good
Oh when will this be done?
All the wanting for someone
All the wanting for

Oh my god!
I'm nowhere once again
and I ain't living for a thing
Everything is ending around me
and I ain't living for a thing

left something up in a drawer somewhere
half scrawled out, half a prayer
in the clutter that collects around my life
if this was something a song could solve
there'd be a no good kinda deal involved
Did you make something?
Or take something of mine?

"The Travel Guide, in a few words, is the center of the crossroads where potential and execution meet. Being a band that has found their primary sound at an early point in their career, they have a certain edge and breath of maturity that’s necessary when attempting to climb the musician’s ladder."
