epjohnson This is a Wichita, Ks based band of high caliber, in my humble opinion. I appreciate the clever lyrics and riffs of their front man. The rest of the band sounds good also. Only seen them live once at Riverfest a couple of summers ago, but they had a good chemistry and sounded great! I'm not a music aficionado by any stretch, but I'm happy to support a band local to my hometown this good. Favorite track: Benediction.

Long Year 04:48
It's been a long year fighting for control of the fickle earth it's been a long year stitching up bones into your skirts it's been a long year staring through the dark at a screen at villains spilling blood all over the t.v. it's been long year so much has fallen asleep in the dirt It's been a long year swallowing the pills of your promises in the promised land digging up wells till your veins collapse if you need me I'll be sleeping in the shadow of tree punching at the sky with my hands it's been a long year wondering if we're gonna make plans again this is the morning when the edifices fell this is the morning when the country ate itself I followed you out in the air like the world was starting new again somewhere I went to see the sea make its violent retreat to catch the crashing sun casting violet through the trees oh the sun burned the heart out of us all so we shot it down and stumbled into fall and we were all on our own It's been a long year fighting for control of the fickle earth it's been a long year stitching up bones into your skirts it's been a long year staring through the dark at a screen at villains spilling blood all over the t.v. it's been long year so much has fallen asleep in the dirt It's been a long year swallowing the pills of your promises in the promised land digging up wells till your veins collapse if you need me I'll be sleeping in the shadow of tree punching at the sky with my hands it's been a long year wondering if we're gonna make plans again

Hubris 05:26
For twenty years and then some more I've been building hills outside my door for weeks until my feet got sore I was kicking sand across my floor then I dug through soil in a dream I saw you beaming, charmed and free with concrete where you should have teeth and blurry eyes not made to see and I've been counting the hours, counting the hours, till the future begins and I've been trading a dream, trading a dream for the next thing that's happening should I clothe myself in magazines trade my bed for benzadrine seek the city, seek the sea swim through salt to burn me clean and I've been counting the hours, counting the hours, till the future begins and I've been trading a dream, trading a dream for the next thing that's happening but it's a lie, it's a lie, it's a bold-faced lie it's a lie though we keep telling it but it's a lie, it's a lie, it's a god-damned lie it's a lie, don't you ever forget that it's a lie, it's a lie, it's a bold-faced lie it's a lie though we keep telling it but it's a lie, it's a lie, it's a god-damned lie it's a lie, don't you ever forget Your head's got clouds hanging over the windows and ceilings as high as the sky you're the chamber where I rest when my flesh grows weary a hospital I can use any time but you know, you know when we were acting like lovers I was seeking asylum in your mind we fell asleep to what looked like New England and we woke up and it was the end of time tell your friends that I'm coming back home again oh I'm coming home to pick a fight I'll be spitting at their religions I'll be throwing down with all my mind I'll be bringing down a new word from heaven in a language from a long dead time I'll be drying up the sea to make islands I'll be building up a mountain with my life and I've been counting the hours, counting the hours, till the future begins and I've been trading a dream, trading a dream for the next thing that's happening but it's a lie, it's a lie, it's a bold-faced lie it's a lie though we keep telling it but it's a lie, it's a lie, it's a god-damned lie it's a lie, don't you ever forget that it's a lie, it's a lie, it's a bold-faced lie it's a lie though we keep telling it but it's a lie, it's a lie, it's a god-damned lie it's a lie, don't you ever forget

Your heart pumps cold blood in the winter anxious for a blizzard and January Bones The whole world's trapped up in their livings rooms napping through the afternoon beneath the ice and snow I know you'll leave when the morning comes, I know you will so tonight I'm stuck searching through the street for time to kill there's a different kind of quiet frozen in these bright and lonely parking lots at night the lamps all tower up above you the cameras keep their eyes glued to the kinds of people like you I know you'll leave when the morning comes, I know you will so tonight I'm stuck searching through the street for time to kil I know you'll leave when the morning comes, I know you will so tonight I'm stuck searching through the street for time to kil let the kids get the summer I'll take the freezing chill when the drought claims our water, we'll beg for the ice we will

Hockey Night 06:13
Sometimes when I'm dreamin sometimes when I dream we are a colony of cars corralled to separate bars sometimes when I'm sleepin sometimes when I sleep I can feel this city's teeth chattering beneath but they keep stuttering on they keep stuttering on they keep stuttering on they keep stuttering on Sometimes when I wake up sometimes when I wake the whole thing doesn't take the whole thing doesn't take I never hear you singin words people are speakin antennae come between our tongues hide from our cheeks but they keep stuttering on they keep stuttering on they keep stuttering on they keep stuttering on they keep stuttering on they keep stuttering on they keep stuttering on they keep stuttering on

On the walls around and in the buildings downtown men are hammering their hard hearts down in the restaurants where we earned a place to sleep I dreamt a sea that could swallow this town in the wreckage underwater she was trapped and left for dead on the bridges stretching over I was hanging by the head I'm gonna change my name give my things away and we'll escape from the basement at night I'm gonna stow away on a red eye plane chasing a trail to the morning light we'll build our new house landlocked before we lose it to the sea we'll live our lives like climates before we lose them to the heat I want to fall backward into the good earth I want to fall back underground I want to fall backward into the good earth I want to fall back underground America is draining all her aquifers and lakes and storing all the buckets in the cargo holds of plains gotta get the sunsets singing gotta paint their heads with rain gotta build new sets of symbols got to give ourselves new names

The Travel Guide Wichita, Kansas

Indie band based out of Wichita, Kansas. We write songs about places and feelings and ideas.

"The Travel Guide, in a few words, is the center of the crossroads where potential and execution meet. Being a band that has found their primary sound at an early point in their career, they have a certain edge and breath of maturity that’s necessary when attempting to climb the musician’s ladder."
